About Case Converter

A case converter changes the capitalization of your text without you having to retype a single word, switching a sentence between uppercase, lowercase, title case and a handful of other formats in one click. It's a small task, but doing it by hand for anything longer than a sentence gets tedious fast.

Free, no sign-up

The most common formats are the simple ones: uppercase for emphasis or headers, lowercase for cleaning up text that was typed with caps lock stuck on, and title case for headlines, where the first letter of most words is capitalized following standard style conventions. Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence, which is useful for fixing text pasted from somewhere with inconsistent formatting.

There are also a few developer-specific formats here, camelCase and snake_case among them, which are common conventions for naming variables in code. Converting a phrase into one of these formats by hand is easy to get wrong, a missed underscore or an extra capital letter, so having a text case converter handle it removes that small but annoying source of bugs.

Paste your text in, pick the format you need from the options, and the result appears immediately with a copy button right next to it. There's no need to select each word individually or retype anything, the whole block converts at once regardless of length.

This gets used for more than just casual formatting. Writers fix text that came in from an old document with the wrong capitalization, social media managers standardize captions, and developers convert a phrase into the exact variable-naming format their codebase expects. It works the same way for a single word or several paragraphs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalizes the first letter of most major words in a phrase, following the convention used for headlines and titles, while sentence case only capitalizes the very first word of each sentence, the way normal prose is written. Title case is common for headings, sentence case for body text.

Does title case capitalize every word?

Not quite. Standard title case conventions typically skip capitalizing short words like "a," "the," "and," or "of" unless they're the first or last word in the title. This tool follows that common convention rather than capitalizing every single word.

What is camelCase used for?

camelCase is a naming convention common in programming, where the first word is lowercase and each following word starts with a capital letter, with no spaces or underscores, like "myVariableName." It's used across many programming languages for naming variables and functions.

Can I convert text back to its original case after converting it?

The tool works on whatever text is currently in the input box, so if you still have your original text copied somewhere, you can paste it back in and choose the format you need. The tool itself doesn't keep a history of previous conversions.

Will this work on text with special characters or emojis?

Special characters and emojis pass through unchanged since case conversion only affects letters. Numbers and punctuation are also left exactly as they were, only the capitalization of alphabetic characters changes.

Is there a character limit for the case converter?

No, you can paste in anything from a short phrase to a long document. Since the conversion happens in your browser rather than on a server, there's no practical size limit or waiting time, even for longer text.
