About Open Graph Preview Generator

This tool shows you how a shared link will look before you post it. You type in the details of your page, and the preview cards for Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and Discord update as you type. When a card looks right, you copy the finished block of meta tags and paste it into your page's head section. It doesn't scan a live page. You supply the details yourself.

Free, no sign-up

Start with the page title, the description and the full address of your preview image, then add the page URL and an optional site name. The title counter turns red past 60 characters and the description counter past 110. For the image, a 1200 by 630 pixel picture fits the wide card layout that most platforms use.

The generated code includes the standard title and description tags, the Open Graph set (og:type, og:url, og:title, og:description, og:image and og:site_name) and the Twitter card set with the summary_large_image format. One block covers every platform in the preview, so you paste it once.

Treat the previews as close drafts, not exact copies. Each platform changes its card design from time to time, and each one caches a link after the first share. If you edit tags on a live page, ask the platform to scrape the link again with its own debugger or inspector tool. Since this tool never visits your page, it can't judge the tags already on your site. Use it to design new ones.

We never receive or save what you type. The one outside request comes from the image preview: your browser loads the picture from the address you entered, so the server hosting that image sees the request, just as with any web page that shows an image.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool read the tags on my live page?

No. It works from the details you type in and never opens your site. To check a published page, use a platform's own link debugger, and use this tool to prepare new tags.

Which platforms does the preview cover?

Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and Discord. Each tab draws the card the way that platform lays it out. LinkedIn's card shows only the image, title and domain, so your description won't appear in that tab.

What image size should I use?

Aim for 1200 by 630 pixels, a ratio of about 1.91 to 1, hosted at a public https address as a JPG or PNG. The preview crops the picture to fit, so keep the important part near the center.

Why do the counters stop at 60 and 110 characters?

Those are working limits, not hard platform rules. Long titles get cut off with an ellipsis on most cards, and about 110 characters keeps a description readable on the narrower ones. You can go over. The tool warns you but doesn't block you.

Where do I paste the generated tags?

Inside the head section of the page you want to share, next to your title tag. In a Next.js project you can set the same values through the metadata export instead. Every page needs its own set, because each page has its own title and image.

I changed my tags but the old card still appears. Why?

Platforms cache link previews. After you update the tags on your live page, ask the platform to fetch the link again using its debugger or inspector tool. Some platforms take a while to refresh on their own.
